“Traces of sandalwood” AUDIENCE AWARD at the Montreal World Film Festival 2014!

The film “Traces of sandalwood” directed by Maria Ripoll, wins the Audience Award at the International Film Festival of Montreal, where it was presented in late August on Focus On World Cinema section.
Starring Aina Clotet (“Wild Boys”, “Elisa K”) and indian actress Nandita Das (“Fire”, “Earth”) and conducted by a team led by women, Maria Ripoll (“Rain in His Shoes “” My life in 65 min”), Raquel Fernández Núñez as a cinematographer among other professionals,”Traces of sandalwood” tells a beautiful and moving story of brotherly love and hope between two cities; Mumbai, Barcelona and two cultures.
“Traces of sandalwood” is based on the novel by Asha Miró and Anna Soler-Pont, published with blockbuster by Editorial Planeta in 2007 The script of the film is provided by Anna Soler-Pont who exercises at the same time as a producer of the film.
“Traces of sandalwood” continues its international tour and will be the opening film at the Indian Film Festival The Hague to be held in The Haya in late October. In addition, the International Film Festival of Valladolid (SEMINCI) will screen Maria Ripoll’s film in official selection out of competition.
Pontas Films is a new production company based in Barcelona and “Traces of sandalwood” is his first feature. The company was founded by the same members of the literary agency Pontas (Anna Soler-Pont, Ricard Domingo and Marc de Gouvenain), an international agency also based in Barcelona since 1992 that stands out for being very active in the sale of rights to adapt audiovisual works of literature.

Synopsis:
Mina, an Indian actress in Mumbai, can not forget her little sister Sita, who was forcibly separated after the death of her mother. Thirty years later, Mina learns that Sita is well and living in Barcelona. Now called Paula, is a biologist and has no memory of her past. Paula undertake the journey of discovery of her true identity with the help of Prakash (Naby Dakhli), an Indian immigrant who sells Sexy Bollywood films in the Raval district of Barcelona.
